Hi there!

Name’s Patrick, but I also go by Paddy.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, with a background in Furnishing Technology, Industrial Design and UX Design, I have a passion for solving problems and putting myself in other people’s shoes - figuratively, not literally! At my core, I am a people-person who strives to do my part in building a more inclusive and environmentally sustainable world.
I am also Deaf with cochlear implants, where I can communicate both verbally with the hearing, and through sign language with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Being Deaf has given me the unique opportunity to observe the world from a different perspective and develop a profound understanding of human behaviour, of which I am still forever learning.

I grew up creating all kinds of different objects, which in turn sparked my passion for human-centered design in high school. This led to beginning my career in Industrial Design and had the honor of working for TEAGUE in Seattle, USA. With no experience in the aerospace industry, I loved the challenge of learning on the job as we worked with clients such as Boeing and a variety of airlines to improve the in-fight experience for it’s passengers.

In 2018 I decided to expand on my HCD skills by exploring the digital sector. After 3 months up-skilling through Academy Xi, I’ve been working for JB Hi-Fi, helping them improve their internal systems to create a more enjoyable user experience for all in-store staff across the country.

When I’m not designing products, you will find me on the basketball court playing with mates, knee-deep in philosophical conversations at cafes over brunch, hiking/snowboarding nearby mountains, or searching for my next overseas adventure. I’m not the kind to brag, but over the last 8 years I have had the honor of representing Australia in Basketball, competing twice at the Olympics for the Deaf.

In a nutshell, I’m an observer, a facilitator, a maker,  a team player, but most of all a student… because we should never stop learning.
